Compassion in Action
-
Addressing A Need
The Clinic opened in 1992 as a response to the growing number of underserved and uninsured individuals who lacked access to basic primary healthcare in the Miami-Dade area.
-
The SSJ Foundation
A short time later, the SSJ (Sisters of St. Joseph) Foundation was established to raise funds to provide basic medical care to children and adults in Miami-Dade County. The clinic also receives funding from Florida’s Department of Health and private and corporate donations.
-
Serving their Audience
At St. John Bosco Clinic those we serve have different life stories, faces and nationalities. They are the young, old, working poor and the unemployed, but they share one very similar need; the need for healthcare and difficulty meeting that need for themselves and their families.

Powered by Faith, Driven by Volunteers
Today, the clinic has seven employees, but “were it not for the volunteers, it could not function.” Free clinics, like St. John Bosco, can only do their work because of the generous time commitment of volunteers. The Sisters still remain on the board of directors to ensure the clinic remains a place of compassionate care, guided by faith, dedicated to healing, and committed to quality medical service for all.
